Turns out J.R.R. Tolkien’s timeless tales about hobbits weren’t all fictional. Once upon a time, hobbits exists here on Earth!
Recently a skeleton had been found that is now believed to be of a new variety of human that researchers are calling the “hobbit” because of it’s small stature. After verifying that the skeleton wasn’t that of a Neanderthal, the species is being calledHomo floresiensis.
It took eight months to recreate the face on the skeleton and with an artist’s rendition, it turns out that Homo floresiensis looked very much like a modern human, but shorter and with less defined features.
However, it is still unknown weather Homo floresiensis is an extinct part of the human family or if it is a variation of Homo erectus.
