A baby elephant got herself stuck in a small well and safely returned to her mom after a tedious half hour long rescue in Kenya.

The mother was obviously frantic and wanted to help her child, but was unable to. The deep water of the well and the slippery mud in the hole made it difficult for the eight month old calf to get out on her own.

An elephant welfare and conservation group called the Amboseli Trust helped the calf out by using a length of rope tied to a jeep. They carefully managed to get the rope under the calf’s buttocks and then pulled her out with the jeep. Before that could be done, though, they had to shoo away the worried mother so that no one would get hurt.

Watch this amazing and heart warming recue below and just try not to shed some happy tears when the baby elephant is reunited with her mom!
