The New Year starts with resolutions, so why not start the school year with goals? It’s important to set some objectives that you’d like to accomplish by June. Setting goals will give you a sense of purpose and will make you a well-rounded individual. Here are some ideas of goals you can set for yourself this school year:
Athletics
Have you ever dreamed of being the best runner in your grade or the soccer player that other teams talk about with envy? Make those dreams a reality by pledging to join a sports team this year and sticking with it. Do you want to score the winning goal? Be the first to cross the finish line? Or just have fun while staying active? The choice is yours!
Academics
The main reason for going to school is to get a good education! Make it a goal to raise that B to an A or that A to an A+. Grades reflect the amount of effort you put in, so make them worthy of you! If your school gives out awards for highest achieving students per class, a good goal to have could be to get an academic award!
Extra-curriculars
Joining clubs at school is a great way to make new friends and have a great time. If your school puts on a play each year and you’ve caught the acting bug, go ahead and audition! Join a club that focuses on something that interests you, whether it’s art, music, sports or charity work. School doesn’t have to be all work and no play!
Health
A new school year is the perfect time to break bad habits. Cut down on hot dogs, ice-cream, cotton candy and all those other summer treats. Instead, make an effort to eat lots of fruits and veggies and take the initiative to get active! Go for a run around the block, swim laps at your local pool or join a dance class. It’s been proven that there’s a link between physical activity and academic achievement, so this can help you tackle two goals at once!
Happy goal setting!
