You don’t need a cape and superpowers to be a hero, as Steven St Bernard, a New York City bus driver, proved when he saved a girl’s life.
He was walking home from work to the apartment building where he lives when residents informed him that seven-year-old Keyla McCree had decided to do something very dangerous indeed. For reasons best known to her, she was dancing on the air conditioning unit of her apartment. This alone isn’t a great idea, but to make things worse, the unit was up on the third floor of the building.
Steven ran and stood bellow the air conditioning unit. He made is just in the nick of time because a few moments later, Keyla fell right into his arms. If that’s not luck, we don’t know what is!
One of Steven’s bicep tendons was torn from the impact, but it’s a small price to pay for having prevented someone from splattering onto the pavement. Hopefully, Keyla learned her lesson and will stick to dancing on surfaces that are not suspended high in the air without walls.
