The Jonas Brothers made a surprise appearance at Patrick Henry High School in Minneapolis to announce that We Day will be coming to Minnesota this year!
Free The Children co-founder Marc Kielburger and activist Mia Farrow joined Joe, Kevin and Nick in surprising over 600 students to tell them about the event. The event will take place on October 8, 2013 at the Xcel Energy Center. This will be the second We Day event in the U.S.; the first will be We Day Seattle on March 27, 2013.
The Jonas Brothers first got involved with We Day in 2009 at the 3rd We Day in Toronto. They will be performing at We Day Minnesota this year. However, students will not be able to buy a ticket. They have to earn it by volunteering and making a commitment to service for one local and one global action as part of the yearlong We Act program. Students are encouraged to support an issue that they care about.
The first We Day event was held in Toronto on October 19, 2007. Since then, the event has grown largely and spread to Vancouver, Montreal, Waterloo, Winnipeg and now the U.S. The events are also recorded and aired online and on major Canadian television networks.
