Never underestimate the power of social networking! When one little dog was lost in the subway in Ireland, the employees and commuters took to Twitter to get him safely back to his owner.

Patch the Jack Russell terrier decided to get on a train to Dublin when his owner, Deidre Anglin, wasn’t paying attention and before she could do anything, the train doors had shut and the dog was gone.

The next morning, Patch was found at a subway station an hour away from where he got on the train. He was wandering around another train and letting people pet him. Irish Rail workers Tweeted about the lost dog and posted a picture. Within half an hour (and more than 500 retweets late), Deidre saw the message and was able to pick Patch up from the station! It’s a good thing she saw the tweet when she did, because some of the workers had taken quite a liking to the dog and would have loved to keep him around.

And so, thanks to Twitter, a dog and his owner were reunited after a harrowing two days! Hopefully, this incident will show all the dog owners out there how important it is to keep their pooches on a leash in public places.
