HABITAT? It prefers the tropical climate of East Africa, especially in the swamps from Sudan to Zambia
DID YOU KNOW?
– It gets its name from its massive bill that looks like a shoe.
– This species is vulnerable due to habitat loss and hunting.
– It is a very large, stork-like bird, with adults standing at 115–150cm (45–60in.) tall.
– It feeds on fish, frogs and baby crocodiles
– Adult shoebills are usually grey in colour, while younger ones look browner.
