Who knew that building LEGO sculptures could make you famous?

15-year-old Evan Bacon is a LEGO enthusiast and recently finished building a life-size Superman! Evan’s masterpiece stands six feet and six inches tall, and was made to look similar to the Superman character in MAN OF STEEL (coming to theatres this June).

The sculpture weighs 100 pounds and took about 100 hours to complete. Evan used 18,000 individual LEGO pieces to build it. It also sports red LED glowing eyes and a flowing red cape, just like Superman!

Evan has built life-sized versions of other superheroes such as Iron Man and Batman, which he made when he was 13. The Batman piece took three months to make and earned Evan three first place prizes at the 2011 Brick Awards!

Adam West, who played Batman in 1966’s BATMAN: THE MOVIE, has met Evan and even posed with the sculpture for a picture!

The Superman sculpture will be on display at the 2013 Brick Fiesta in July in Texas. It will also be featured in EXTREME BRICKS, an upcoming book by Sarah Herman.
