Here’s a quick Valentine’s treat that’s easy to make and is super tasty, too! The best part about it is that it isn’t restricted to Valentine’s Day! You can make Christmas gumdrops, Easter gumdrops, birthday gumdrops or even gumdrops just for fun!

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

  • 2 cups of sugar (plus a little extra in which to roll the gumdrops)
  • 1-1/3 cup of unsweetened applesauce
  • 3 2-oz packages of Jell-O (any colour!)
  • 2 envelopes of unflavoured gelatin
  • 1 teaspoon of lemon juice
  • Pan, greased

HOW TO PREPARE:

  • Combine all the ingredients in a saucepan and let stand for one minute. Ask an adult to help you use the stove if you need assistance.
  • Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat and stir constantly. Boil it for two minutes.
  • Pour into the pan and place in fridge for three hours, until firm.
  • Remove the firmed mixture using a spatula and cut into desired shape(s).
  • Roll gumdrops in sugar and let sit until they’re slightly dry.
  • Enjoy!
