Easy Eats: Heart-Shaped Rice Krispy Treat

This fun treat is both delicious and easy to make, and it’s bound to delight all who are presented with it! Though they take on a regular old Valentine’s Day heart-shape, there’s not regular about these yummy eat!

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

  • 3 tablespoons of margarine
  • 6 cups of mini marshmallows
  • Red food colouring
  • 9 cups of Rice Krispies cereal
  • Cookie cutter (heart-shaped for Valentine’s Day!)
  • Cooking spray

HOW TO PREPARE:

  • Lightly coat a pan with cooking spray and set it aside
  • Melt the margarine over low heat and add the marshmallows while continuously stirring until the marshmallows also melt. Be sure to get an adult’s help if you need it!
  • Stir in a drop of red food colouring and keeping adding colouring until the mixture is as red (or pink) as you want.
  • Add in the Rice Krispies and stir until they are evenly coated.
  • Spoon the mixture onto the pan and, with lightly buttered hands, smooth out the mixture until it is even.
  • Use the cookie cutter to cut into the shapes you desire.
  • Enjoy!

Tip: If you plan to distribute them, get some small plastic bags and some yarn and place one or two treats in each bag to give out!

Tip 2:For some extra sweetness, melt some chocolate chips and dip part of the treat into the chocolate. You can even add on sprinkles to the chocolate!
