The cold has long been well upon us and the winter season is almost too close for comfort—and comfort is exactly what we’re looking for when the wind is crisp and the only place we want to be is huddled in front of the fireplace. Of course, that isn’t always the case; there are those of us who are barely affected by the shifting of the seasons, and even a select few who welcome the change. Wondering what those oddballs are thinking? So were we, but now the secret has been pretty much discovered by our handy dandy detective crew.

The snug secret lies in a little thing called “Hot Chocolate Bites”, a.k.a. the best thing since hot chocolate itself. Imagine for a moment, taking a hearty sip of your favourite brand of cocoa deliciousness. Sounds like a good scenario, though a little run-of-the-mill and maybe even boring after the millionth cup of chocolatey goodness.

Now imagine something totally different and amazing—coming home from a long commute out in the chilly winter air and not sipping, but biting into your friendly neighbourhood hot chocolate. That’s right; the advancements in technology are nothing compared to this phenomenon. A blog appropriately titled “Food Coma” recently posted the recipe on their site, and since then, our lives have been changed forever.

These little “bites” actually consist of puff pastry squares filled with chocolate chips and marshmallows, then drizzled with hot chocolate sauce and rolled up into tiny edible goodies. You can get even more creative and throw a dash of the sauce inside the actual puff pastry for an explosion of cocoa flavour with every bite. Just be sure to clean up the mess afterwards (and yes, that does include licking the bowl)!
