The results are in for Pop Can 12.7, published in the Winter issue and online. The voting is complete and the numbers are in. A big thanks goes to everyone who contributed their opinions, and congratulations to Jamie Fisher (12, Alberta), who won a $100 iTunes gift card.

The most popular book among respondents was THE HUNGER GAMES, a title that drew broad interest from a diverse audience, signaling a shared taste for fast-paced adventures across the readership in North America.

Top three New Year resolutions emerged clearly in the poll, highlighting what matters most as winter turns to spring: personal growth, health, and reading.

The leading resolution, chosen by a quarter of participants, was to improve in school, in life, and to become a better person. Close behind, 21 percent pledged to eat healthier, be more active, and stay physically fit. A further 13 percent aimed to read more. This snapshot shows priorities that cross borders and school years.

In popular titles, ESCAPE FROM PLANET EARTH drew 71 percent support and 29 percent opposition. JACK THE GIANT SLAYER registered 54 percent Yay and 46 percent Nay. OZ earned 63 percent Yay against 38 percent Nay. THE CROODS posted 54 percent Yay and 46 percent Nay. THE HOST reflected 40 percent Yay versus 60 percent Nay.

Top March Break activities reflected a mix of social time, creativity, and outdoor fun. Readers most valued hanging out with friends and family at 38 percent, followed by making art or playing video games at 13 percent, and heading outside to enjoy the snow at 10 percent.

When asked what they want to be when they grow up, the most popular choices were TEACHER at 17 percent, PERFORMER (actor, singer, broadcaster) at 15 percent, and DOCTOR at 10 percent. Other ideas rounded out the list.

In paired interests, HARRY POTTER for Kinnect rose to 63 percent against 38 percent for F1 Race Stars; WRITING at 33 percent versus DRAWING at 67 percent; HOCKEY at 69 percent versus BASKETBALL at 31 percent; WRECK-IT RALPH at 50 percent versus DESPICABLE ME at 50 percent, a tie that surprised many readers.

When it comes to favorite subjects, gym led with 35 percent, followed by art at 25 percent and science at 15 percent. These results highlight the practical and creative interests of a younger audience across North America.
