Who says animals can’t talk? We count down the best of the best in animated movies:

10. Diego (ICE AGE)
Is he a tough saber-toothed cat or just a big softie at heart? Whether he was playing it mean or nice, Diego proved to be a true friend who was always willing to go out on a limb (or into a river).

9. Eeyore (THE WINNIE THE POOH SERIES)
Oh, Eeyore. Down in the dumps again? There’s no reason to be, because this classic Disney character is beloved for his perpetual mood and for his loyalty. In the words of Eeyore: “Thanks for noticin’ me.”

8. Remy (RATATOUILLE)
This aspiring chef may live in sewers and back alleys, but his determination and creative cooking skills make him the most likable talking rat to have ever hit the big screen.

7. Mumble (HAPPY FEET)
How can you not love a penguin that just wants to dance? Despite what everyone else thought, Mumble refused to give up his unusual gift and even managed to win the girl of his dreams. What a penguin!

6. Bolt (BOLT)
Although his powers aren’t real, he makes us believe that he can do anything he sets his mind to. Bolt’s courage, determination and loyalty to his owner Penny makes this dog one of the coolest on the list.

5. Donkey (THE SHREK MOVIES)
Okay, so he’s super chatty. And a little annoying. And has a short attention span. But Shrek’s wisecracking and talkative sidekick added the perfect amount of comic relief to every scene.

4. Po (KUNG FU PANDA)
Po’s a simple panda: he likes Kung Fu and food. And whether he’s strapping himself to fireworks or knocking people down with his huge belly, Po is unbelievably funny as the unlikely hero.

3. Dug (UP)
Friendly and eager to please, this lovable character made us wish that our dogs had high tech collars that allowed them to speak too! He stole every scene — and our hearts — in this summer’s UP.

2. Sebastian (THE LITTLE MERMAID)
The most musically inclined crab to have ever starred in a movie, Sebastian started off as somewhat crusty crustacean, but soon proved to be a true friend to Ariel. If you don’t remember him from songs like “Under the Sea” or “Kiss the Girl”, then you’ll definitely remember him for his hilarious chase scene with Chef Louis.

1. Dory (FINDING NEMO)
No other character was funnier in FINDING NEMO than Dory, the Blue Tang, voiced by Ellen DeGeneres. While this optimistic fish may have lacked short-term memory, we won’t easily forget about this memorable character.
