The old “cats have nine lives” saying appears to be true… at least for Max, a young cat from Santa Cruz, California. Three year old Max had been missing for a few days and arrived home with an entire arrow sticking out of his head.
The owners said that Max was acting normal, eating and sleeping just as though nothing had happened. They first thought the arrow was a fake, but it went all the way through his head. Santa Cruz County Animal Services Manager Todd Stosuy said, “It went in one side of the cat’s head, went through the ear and then out the top, it doesn’t look like it hit the animal’s brain at all.”
Max has since had surgery, and the arrow has been successfully removed. However, no one seems to know how the arrow got there in the first place. If found, the person responsible will face animal cruelty charges, but that doesn’t seem to be Max’s concern at all. Owners say he’s been trying to get back outside, but for now, he’s on house arrest. Way to be a tough kitty, Max!
