Zayn Malik, a member of One Direction, paused his demanding worldwide schedule to support a cherished charity project that brings art and generosity to life in Bristol. The initiative, Wallace and Gromit’s Grand Appeal, funds Bristol Children’s Hospital and runs a public art trail called Gromit Unleashed, where celebrities design their own Gromit sculptures that appear around the city before being auctioned to raise funds for pediatric care.

Malik contributed a statue named Green Gromit, adding his contribution to a growing collection of artwork scattered across Bristol as part of the charity drive. He managed to lend his creative touch to the project despite juggling a hectic world tour and an upcoming U.S. tour launch.

“I’m absolutely delighted to be able to lend my support to Gromit Unleashed to raise funds for Wallace and Gromit’s Grand Appeal,” he stated. “Being asked to design and paint a Gromit was an absolute honour and despite being busy on tour, it’s given me something to look forward to on my down time in between shows. My house is going to feel a whole lot emptier and a lot less green without it!”

The charity trail has become a citywide gallery, drawing visitors who stroll between whimsical Gromit sculptures while local businesses rally behind the cause. The eventual auction of the statues channels money toward hospital improvements, pediatric equipment, and family-centered services at Bristol Children’s Hospital. Fans of the project often speak about the sense of community it creates, with schools, volunteers, and local supporters participating in the display while learning about the hospital’s needs and the impact of charitable giving. As the cascade of painted figures continues to unfold, Malik’s Green Gromit stands as a bright example of how celebrities can use creativity to illuminate a cause that cares for children in the area. — Credit: Gromit Unleashed
