The Canadian pop rock quartet Neverest brings together Spyros Chalkiotis, Mike Klose, Paul Loduca, and Brendan Colameco. The name hints at a relentless drive, a mindset the group channels into every performance. Fresh off a Canadian tour alongside the Backstreet Boys and New Kids on the Block, known as NKOTBSB, Neverest recently completed a joint run with Alyssa Reid to promote their EP About Us.

Neverest delivers a sound that sticks and lyrics that listeners can easily relate to. The band makes a point of connecting with fans after shows and through social media, and they keep supporters in the loop with frequent YouTube vlogs that document their adventures on the road.

Before the final show of the Alyssa Reid tour in Toronto, Mike and Paul spoke about the band’s journey, the Everest metaphor, and the thrill of sharing a stage with a Backstreet Boy.

How did the band come together? Spee and Mike connected through high school friends and started writing songs with the aim of forming a band. Through their producer Mike Kiofos they met Paul, and Brendan came into the fold after being found on a casual inquiry. The story of how the lineup clicked is one of chance meetings and shared musical chemistry.

Why Neverest? Each member has his own Mount Everest to conquer, and the group’s mindset is clear: they will not rest until they reach their personal peaks and then push further. The letter N at the front gives the name a distinctive twist, signaling a fresh take on that Everest concept.

What is the favourite song off the EP About Us? The band members point to the new single The Chase as a standout.

What can fans expect from a forthcoming full length? The plan is simple and ambitious: more songs. Instead of eight, the project will feature eight plus, expanding the portrait of the band as both people and musicians. There is a palpable excitement about growing into a stronger version of Neverest.

Is there a track that might appear on the album? One acoustic piece performed on tour, Said and Done, carries deeply personal lyrics for Spee and remains a favorite to perform. Another beloved tune, Alone, is described as a really fun number to play.

Howie D from the Backstreet Boys serves as the band’s manager and collaborated with him on the single Lie to Me. It was a privilege to work with him, and the experience of singing alongside a member of the Backstreet Boys still feels surreal. The experience also included a whirlwind 48 hours in New York City to perform on Good Day New York, with practice happening in a hotel room just before airtime.

A notable anniversary looms for fans: November 9 marked the official release date of About Us. The group notes that a celebration is in order, and plans are in motion to mark the milestone.

Fans have learned a few lesser known facts about the band. Mike tends to keep personal details close, while Paul admits a love for Nutella and recalls a time when heavy metal songs were used to pump up the energy before going on stage.

With Alyssa Reid behind them, the group looks ahead to more live appearances. The plan includes two We Days and the CityTV New Year’s show at Nathan Phillips Square, where three songs will be performed, including a collaboration with Howie. In addition, a new record is on the horizon, and the group dreams of selling out arenas alongside major pop groups, echoing the stadium-caliber ambitions of the biggest names in the scene.

In closing, Neverest remains focused on new music and bigger stages, building a lasting presence across Canada and beyond as they push toward the next chapter of their career.
