Let the countdown to music’s biggest night begin!
The 2013 Grammy Awards are fast approaching and it’s about time this year’s nominees were revealed! Last night was the 55th annual Grammy Nominations Concert co-hosted by LL Cool J and Taylor Swift. The concert was held in Los Angeles for the first time ever, which turned out to be the largest venue ever used for the Grammy Nominations! The event was held in the Bridgestone Arena, which might even be where the actual Grammy Awards will be held as well.
During the show, artists such as Fun., Janelle Monae, Maroon 5, Ne-Yo and The Band Perry performed! Hosts Taylor Swift and LL Cool J even did a mini-collaboration on stage with Taylor beat boxing and LL Cool J singing.
So, who are this year’s nominees? Last night we found out that Canadian pop star Carly Rae Jepsen got two nominations, one for song of the year (“Call Me Maybe”) and another one for best pop solo performance.
Drake also got three nominations forbest rap performance (“HYFR”), best rap song (“The Motto”) and best rap album (‘Take Care’).
Kanye West, Jay-Z, Mumford & Sons, Frank Ocean and Fun. had the most nominations out of all the artists! We weren’t surprised to hear hip-hop artists Jay-Z and Kanye West made the list as they do nearly every year. Fun. made the cut with their latest album ‘Some Nights’ being nominated for album of the year and their song “We Are Young” being nominated for best new artist, song and record. The popular folk-rock band from Britain, Mumford & Sons, was nominated for album of the year for their album ‘Babel.’
