Just a few years ago, anything described as “indie-folk” would have sent people running in the other direction, but all that is behind us now. It’s the musical era of indie bands with unique styles that all aim to have their own original sound. One such band is the relatively new Milo Greene.
Despite what the name suggests Milo Greene isn’t just one person. The band consists of five members who hail from Los Angeles. Last night, they made their talk show debut when they performed on the LATE NIGHT SHOW WITH DAVID LETTERMAN. They sang their best known song, “1957,” and David and the audience were very impressed!
Anyone who’s a fan of folky rock will notice their resemblance to Fleetwood Mac. Milo Greene’s sound can be described as seamless and slightly hypnotic. The transitions between the different vocalists are very smooth and their self-titled album almost sounds like one long song with different variations in mood and pace.
Milo Greene is currently touring North America as part of their summer headline tour. They’re performing a sold out show in New York City today and will be making their way to Boston on the 28th. They’ll be touring again this fall!
This band is exactly what the music scene needs. They’re a breath of fresh, artsy air amid the dozens of new, very similar bands that have been cropping up recently.
