Earlier this year, Justin Bieber made headlines when it was revealed that he had beaten Lady Gaga for most Twitter followers. Now, it seems, this isn’t technically so!
According to a social media analytics experts, Socialbakers, almost half of Justin Bieber’s followers on Twitter are actually fake! About 45% of Bieber’s followers are inactive or fake accounts making his total number of legitimate followers 17.8 million.
Lady Gaga is once again in the lead for most followers with 19 million legitimate followers.
Socialbakers explained what defined fake users by stating that followers that have less than one follower, follow less than 50 people, have never tweeted or only tweet spam and use words like “making money,” “diet” and “work from home.”
