Lorde is only 16-years-old, but she’s already made history with her first single, “Royals.”
The New Zealand native have earned her first #1 single U.S. single when it topped the Billboard Hot 100 list. Previously it had been steadily sitting at the #3 spot, but suddenly whizzed past Katy Perry’s “Roar” and Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball” to nab the number one spot.
Thanks to this new feat, Lorde is now the youngest solo artist to top the chart since ’80s pop star Tiffany skyrocketed to fame with her hit song, “I Think We’re Alone Now” in 1987. On top of that, Lorde is also the only artist from New Zealand to top the list.
Lorde took to her Twitter to express her shock, excitement and happiness at the success of her single.
