One Direction sort of came out of nowhere, didn’t they? First they were solo contestants on the X Factor, the British version of American Idol. Then they were put into a band by the show’s creator, Simon Cowell and then…BAM, the world was been hit by One Direction Infection, a spin on “Bieber Fever.”
The boys have since only seen continued success, from their exuberant fans to performing on the Today Show. This week, they can add one more thing to their resume: making history. One Direction’s debut album UP ALL NIGHT is number one on the 200 Billboard Chart, selling 176,000 copies in the first week! Impressive, considering that the last British band to earn a spot on the chart was The Spice Girls back in 1996.
Now, topping the charts doesn’t mean that Harry, Niall, Liam, Louis and Zayn intend to slow down any time soon. The band will also be guest staring on an episode of iCARLY and performing at the Kids Choice Awards, which you can catch on March 31st.
