Taylor Swift’s Red tour is going down under and it’ll be the first female act tour to play Australian stadiums since Madonna in 1993!
The pop star will be performing in stadiums throughout Australia including in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth in December. This is impressive especially because in 2009 Taylor was still only booking club shows down under and in just four years she’s moved on to 50,000 seat stadiums!
Upon hearing the news, Swift herself was thrilled and stated, “One of my favorite things about the connection between myself and the fans on this tour is that it’s a very emotional one. They’re there because they’ve felt the same things I’m singing about at one point in their lives. They’re singing all the words. When you look out at a sea of people in a stadium and 60,000 people are singing back to you it’s an incredible connection.”
Swift’s Red tour with Ed Sheeran will wind down in September after which she will take a short break before playing her Australian dates. Tickets for the shows go on sale on May 21 with pre-sale beginning on May 14.
