On Sunday, December 2, MuchMusic hosted a holiday concert called The Big Jingle. The show was held at the Air Canada Centre and jam-packed with live performances from 4:30 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. Each act performed for at least ten minutes and entertained the crowd as much as possible.
Tyler Shaw hit the stage first for an acoustic performance of his new single, “Kiss Goodnight.” With just a guitar and stool, he started off evening on a sweet note.
Shawn Desman performed next and was sure to include hit singles like “Nobody Does It Like You,” “Night Like This,” “Dum Da Dum,” and more! The crowd was going wild because everyone in the audience knew the songs. He also encouraged people to stand up and sing along. Shawn had so much energy on stage, which helped enhance his performance.
Sky Blu from LMFAO hit the stage to perform many songs from LMFAO’s album ‘Sorry For Party Rocking.’ He also played a brand new song from his upcoming album. His performance was very lively and there were vibrant colours on the screen in the background, which made him stand out even more! Sky Blu had a ton of energy on stage and was dancing non-stop! The crowd was even dancing along with him!
The fourth performer wasAustin Mahone, a YouTube sensation from San Antonio, Texas. When the hosts, T-rex and Lauren Toyota announced Austin as the next act, everyone stood up and started screaming so loud until he came on stage. Austin performed songs from ‘Say Somethin” and ’11:11.’ His performance got everyone pumped!
Cody Simpson was one artist who definitely got everyone in the crowd screaming. He performed hits from his album ‘Coast to Coast’ and encouraged us to pick up his new album ‘Paradise’ at the end of his performance. Many girls in the audience showed their love for Cody with their “I LOVE CODY” headbands. Everyone was on their feet for his whole performance. He was crazy good!
Bridgit Mendler hit the stage to treat the audience to songs from her new album, ‘Hello My Name Is,’ including the hit single “Ready Or Not.” She wore an elegant collared shirt with studs and leather shorts with tights. Her outfit was stunning. Bridgit is not only an amazing singer, but she can rap too! One of the songs she sang, “Hurricane,” had some rapping parts. She killed it!
Canada’s very own Carly Rae Jepsen did not disappoint as she sang songs from her EP and ‘Kiss.’ She wore a cute outfit, as always! Everyone in the crowd was singing along to the song of the year, “Call Me Maybe.” It’s so catchy and just gets everyone on the feet! Carly Rae sang many other upbeat songs, which got the crowd going, of course!
The next performer was Simple Plan. The band took us down memory lane with many old and loved songs and hits from ‘Summer Paradise.’ They were amazing live! Many people remembered their inspiring songs and sang along with Pierre.
Last but not least, the final act of the night was The Wanted! The audience screamed the loudest for them and were constantly jumping and singing along! The British band performed many of their amazing songs, from “Finally Found You” to “Glad You Came.” The audience was just going crazy! You could tell the band has many Canadian fans out there! Towards the end of their final song, “Glad You Came,” The Wanted pulled up many audience members onto the stage to dance with them and celebrate the moment. By the end, there were about 40 people were on stage with them! It was so funny to see them go crazy and literally jump into their arms. We’re sure most audience members would have done the exact same thing!
Overall, The Big Jingle was a huge success and had an incredible lineup! The performances energized the crowd and gave music fans a treat!
