The Mag: Tell us a bit about THE AMAZING WORLD OFGUMBALLJacob: It’s a show about a funny and mischievousblue cat with a giant head named Gumball who goes on epic adventures with his best buddy, Darwin, a pet goldfish who grew legs.No matter what happens as a result of Gumball’s schemes, he always bounces back, even if the only thing he learns from his mistakes is how to make more of them. Gumball’s family, the Wattersons,includes his dad who is 6’4 giant bunny, his overworked mom who is a cat, and his little genius sister, Anias who is a bunny.The Mag: What was it like working on TRUE BLOOD?Jacob:True Bloodwas an awesome show to be on because I actually love vampires! Even though I was the only kid on the show, everyone made it really fun for me because so many of them are jokesters. I got to wear lifelike fangs, bloody fingernails, and also some pretty cool suits. I liked my character, Chancellor,Alexander Drew becauseeven though heappeared to be a kid, he was really super old, wise, and impatient witha fiery temper.The Mag: Do you prefer live-action acting or doing voiceover work?Jacob:That’s a hard question, because I’m having the time of my life doingGumball! Every episode is a rollercoaster ride and I get to experience so many things that are so amazing! I also love to do live action as well.The Mag: Do you remember your first auditionJacob: Yes. My first audition was a small role ina feature film called,The Minis. I was only 4 years old, almost 5, and I booked the role.The Mag: You’ve also worked on THE GOLDBERGS. Are there big differences between working on a comedy like THE GOLDBERGS and a darker show like TRUE BLOOD?Jacob: Yes! First of all onThe Goldbergs, I play a cool, preppy kid that is a bit of a geek. OnTrue Blood, I was an evil blood-sucking vampire. Also, the pacing and tone of the shows are very different…and as far as I know there will be no staking on The Goldbergs!The Mag: What made you want to get into acting?Jacob: I actually fell into it. My Dad used to be an actor and I was running errands with him one day, which included stopping by to see his agents. One of the agents, asked my dad, “who is that and does he want to act?” So she set up an appointment with my mom to bring me in for an interview and the rest is history!The Mag: How do you balance acting and being a regular kid?Jacob: I get a lot of support from my parents.Sometimes when I’m really busy, it’s challenging, butit all works out somehow. We do a lot of family things together and I have different hobbies. I’m involved in Taekwondo and have great friends. I think it’s important to know and do other things so that you can enjoy the people in your life and the world around you.The Mag: If you could star in a movie with any actor(s), who would they be?Jacob: I think I’d like to be in a movie with Chris Evans, Hugh Jackman, and Keanu Reeves.The Mag: Does your black belt in Taekwondo help at all in your acting career?Jacob: I think my Taekwondo helps because it has great elements of focus, determination, concentration, posture, and strength.The Mag: What advice would you give to kids who may want to become actors or are just beginning their acting careersJacob: I would say if this really something you want to do, then keep going toward your dreams. I think improvisation classes are awesomebecause they help you to think on your feet, be in the moment, and teach you touse of all of your senses.
