In honor of the upcoming AVENGERS film – which features Thor, Captain America, Iron Man, and The Hulk fighting together as a team of awesome – we decided to make a list of our favourite character collaborations that have happened over time!
7. SABRINA THE TEENAGE WITCH on CLUELESS and BOY MEETS WORLD
Neither of Sabrina Spellman’s crossover with both of these late 90’s/early 2000’s shows were any longer than 20 seconds of airtime, but it was still cute to watch Sabrina snap her fingers, disappear, and successfully confuse Cher Horowitz (not that that was a difficult task).
6. FREDDY VS. JASON
Apparently, one teen killing machine wasn’t enough for a horror movie, so they bonded two together. Mashing up A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET and FRIDAY THE 13TH, this successful character crossover reminded us to sleep with one eye open.
5. FUTURAMA and THE PJ’S
Few people actually know of this crossover (or THE PJ’S, for that matter), but the opening credits of FUTURAMA featured the famous PJ’S sewer cover as the opening to FUTURAMA’S mutant sewers. After the PJ writers picked up on it, they did a shout out to FUTURAMA, featuring Fry as a missing person on the side of a milk carton.
4. DEGRASSI and JAY AND SILENT BOB
For three irritating episodes of DEGRASSI: THE NEXT GENERATION: SEASON 4, Kevin Smith made a guest appearance. Within the show, he (playing himself) filmed a fictional film called “Jay and Silent Bob Go Canadian, Eh!” using the Degrassi cast as characters. We’re just thankful the movie was, in fact, never actually made.
3. ALIEN VS. PREDATOR
It’s basically the same idea as FREDDY VS. JASON, just with aliens and predators instead of Freddy and Jason.
2. FLINTSTONES and BEWITCHED and JETSONS
Sure, it makes no sense that either Samantha from BEWITCHED or the Jetsons would even show up to Bedrock… and yet, they both happened.
1. POWER RANGERS and the TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES
After this crossover aired, network television censorship’s everywhere set a legal limit to the amount of “dudes” and “radicals” said in any single television episode (probably).
