While many of you die-hard POKÉMON fans probably started playingPOKÉMON X orPOKÉMON Y about a week ago, we at THE MAG went to the biggestPOKÉMON gathering in all of Canada to give you the inside scoop on the new games!
On October 11, over 1,800 people showed up throughout the day to celebrate the worldwide launchPOKÉMON X andPOKÉMON Y. Fans, trainers, Pokemon and ‘Grunts’ alike all got a chance to test out X and Y a few hours before the release. They entered in costume and trivia contests, while dancing, laughing and of course gaming on their 3DS or 2DS!
THE MAG sat down withPOKÉMON expert and Nintendo Rep Julie Gagnon to talk about her thoughts on the the new games:
Why releasePOKÉMON X AND Y at the same time around the world?
Normally it comes out in Japan first, but we wanted to make sure everyone got the chance to play it at the same time, so none of the surprises in the game are spoiled for you! And there are a lot of cool surprises!
What are some of the new things that you think are exciting aboutPOKÉMON X andPOKÉMON Y?
Well, there’s the new Fairy type of Pokémon which is strong against Dragon types, so you want one of those on your team. There are also some very powerful moves that have never been done before. In the wild you will face multiplePokémon with only one of yours so that will bring a great new challenge for people who have been playingPokémon forever.
And whichPokémon will you be playing, X or Y?
X because the LegendaryPokémon is a fairy and fairy-types are stronger than dragons.
