With the upcoming Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia, Mario and Sonic have been training extra hard to make sure they are ready for the biggest competition of the year. The two video game characters are teaming up with their friends inMARIO & SONIC AT THE SOCHI 2014 OLYMPIC WINTER GAMES, launching on November 15 for theWii Uconsole.
In the game, beloved characters like Princess Peach and Tails join Mario and Sonic. Together, they compete in Olympic Winter Events like snowboard slope style (making its debut in both the game and the real-life Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games), as well as Dream Events that can only exist in the video game version.
For the first time ever in theMario & Sonicseries, players can compete in special events online against other players from around the world, and in these games, players can earn points for their home countries. The four fun events are ski cross, snowboard cross, speed skating and Winter Sports Champion Race.
MARIO & SONIC AT THE SOCHI 2014 OLYMPIC WINTER GAMES uses unique controls involving both the Wii U GamePad and Wii Remote Plus controllers:
- In four-man bobsled, one player stands at the front of a line and uses the GamePad like a steering wheel, while the other players stand behind and use Wii Remote Plus controllers to lean into each turn.
- In pair’s figure skating, two players will swing, twist and pose together during their performance.
- In biathlon, players must switch between the GamePad and Wii Remote Plus controllers to shoot and ski.
- In the new snowboard slope style, players race down a slope on a snowboard, performing jumps and tricks using the touch screen on the GamePad.
This game alsofeatures a selection of Dream Events. These events feature extreme actions and power-ups that can’t be found in any of the other events.
