March Break invites families in Canada and the United States to rethink how they spend time together. Instead of relying on the same old routines, many households seek activities that blend movement, play, and shared laughter. When weather keeps outdoor plans in check, a well designed indoor plan can still feel like an adventure. Sharon Vinderine of Parent Tested Parent Approved (PTPA) spoke about the Kinect experience for Xbox 360 and explained how a controller-free system can turn a living room into a real family gym and entertainment hub. She noted that this setup makes it possible for every family member to join in, from the youngest to the oldest, without feeling pressured to perform in a specific way. For families aiming for practical benefits, that means more informal workouts, creative movement, and togetherness that does not require a gym membership. It is the sort of option that makes March Break active rather than passive.

“Usually, as a parent, we tend to shy away from video games because we picture our children sitting on a couch with a hand controller, just sitting there all day long mesmerized,” Vinderine said. “With KINECT, it is a completely different scenario. Your kids are up and active.”

KINECT was among the first widely adopted controller-free gaming platforms, designed to make the video game experience interactive and accessible to every member of the family, not just young boys. It appeals to moms and dads as well as kids, offering titles like KINECTIMALS and a built-in personal trainer mode that invites players from age five to eighty-five to participate. It is also worth noting that the original Kinect hardware for Xbox 360 is no longer manufactured, but the idea of motion-based play continues to influence experiences on newer systems and across other motion-tracking devices.

Indoor play remains a practical option when the weather keeps people inside, and the Kinect experience helps families stay active during cold or snowy days. As spring arrives, families can also embrace outdoor activities such as biking, nature walks, or simple explorations around the neighborhood. For a lighthearted moment that still promotes movement, even a dad dancing to Beenie Man’s King of the Dancehall can become a fun alternative that brings everyone together.

During March Break, the KINECT Tour also makes appearances, offering hands-on demonstrations and opportunities to try motion-based games that highlight movement, balance, and coordination in a social, family-friendly setting.
