Still don’t know what to go as for Halloween this year? Want to wear a costume that has everyone saying “that’s a hilarious costume, wish I’d have thought of that”. As it turns out, your best costume ideas are right around you, in your household. We’ve comprised a list of the best costume ideas that both easy to make and oddly unique!
Lamp
This one is probably the simplest one to make on the list. All you do is take a lampshade off of an old lamp (there’s probably one in your garage or attic), take out the wiring on the inside, and place the lampshade on your head. If you want to go all out, wear a solid gold colour and say you’re an “expensive” lamp, because the rest of you is gold.
Laundry Basket
Another simple one to make: cut out the bottom of an old laundry basket, attach suspenders to the sides, and put your body through the hole of the laundry basket and have the suspenders hang off of your shoulders. To get really inventive, put some (clean) clothes in the basket and craft a hat made out of an old bottle of laundry detergent.
Q-tip (the ear cleaner, not the rapper)
This one’s a bit trickier to make: wear all white, find two old pillows, and tie one pillow to your head. Then with the other pillow, cut it in half and attach it to both of your ankles. As an alternative to pillows, you could find some white boas and do the same thing.
Broom
Hit up your local dollar store and get one of those broom heads for $1. Either glue gun it to the top of a hat, or find some way to make a wire broom headband. Once it’s fastened to your head somehow, wear all one colour and call your body the handle. Or, buy a bunch of broom heads, attach them all over your clothes somehow and invent a new evil villain: the evil Broom Man!
Mr. Clean: the mascot
Just find one of those bald caps, put on a white t-shirt and jeans and find a fake hoop earring for your left ear and voila, you’re Mr. Clean!
Chair (or “Chaise” in French)
We all have a broken camping chair sitting in our garage or basement, so find that and basically do the same thing as with the laundry basket: cut a hole in the sitting part, attach some suspenders to it and wear it around your body like a chair suit. If the chair is too heavy for suspenders, use two belts.
