ROUND 1: METHOD OF TRANSPORT
BATMAN: If you like cool cars (and who doesn’t?), then you’ll love Batman’s Batmobile. It comes equipped with an arsenal of ever-changing gizmos like the Bat Beam, automatic tire repair, and Batcomputer. I’d hate to think of what he doles out on insurance, not that he couldn’t afford it.
SUPERMAN: Superman has the ability to fly from place to place in the blink of an eye. But I wonder how an alien got the name SuperMAN, and why BATman can’t fly? He can defy gravity, nonetheless, which is more than I can do.
Superman’s flight is impressive, but the Batmobile is cooler than any wheels I’ve seen on Pimp My Ride.
SCORE: BATMAN – 1
SUPERMAN – 0
ROUND 2: SUPER STRENGTHS
BATMAN: The Dark Knight doesn’t possess extraordinary powers. However, he is a master in martial arts and a top-notch detective. With a little help from his expensive gadgetry, Batman always remains one step ahead of the competition.
SUPERMAN: Given that Supes is from planet Krypton, he has powers unlike any other superhero on Earth. X-ray and heat vision, super hearing, super speed and immense strength, are just a few of the many “super” talents Superman has to offer.
Though Batman takes a proactive approach, Superman’s invulnerability is virtually impossible to beat.
SCORE: BATMAN – 1
SUPERMAN – 1
ROUND 3: IDENTITY CRISIS
BATMAN: Batman’s alter ego is Bruce Wayne, a CEO and humanitarian. He has lived life in the shadows since his parents’ murders, but at least Bruce’s inheritance – in the billions – pays for his bat toys.
SUPERMAN: When he isn’t fighting crime, Superman adopts the identity of Clark Kent, a reporter for the Daily Planet newspaper in Metropolis. His job keeps him up to speed (as if he needed it) with crime in the city, so he can always save the day.
Clark Kent may not have Bruce Wayne’s class, but he has a reporter’s brass. Superman speeds past the Caped Crusader!
SCORE: BATMAN – 1
SUPERMAN – 2
ROUND 4: COSTUME CONTEST
BATMAN: Bruce Wayne needed a disguise that would conceal his true identity and instil fear in the crime lords of Gotham City. He then fashioned the idea for his costume on a bat. Plus, his utility belt carries an array of weapons including Batarangs.
SUPERMAN: When one thinks of a superhero, most people will think of Superman first. He is easily the most recognizable hero in the comic world due to the red cape and underwear-over-the-tights style, not to mention the “S” emblazoned on his chest.
Superman appears, at times, too clean cut to be true. Batman puts a dent in the Man of Steel!
SCORE: BATMAN – 2 so he can be killed if superman wanted to kill him
SUPERMAN – 2
ROUND 5: WAR OF THE WEAKNESSES
BATMAN: Unfortunately, Batman’s strengths are limited by his mere mortality. Despite his quick wit, there are so many ways to wound a man. It’s no different for the World’s Greatest Detective because he, too, is only human.
SUPERMAN: The Man of Tomorrow’s primary and possibly only weakness are the remnants of Krypton after it exploded. These green meteor rocks are called Kryptonite. They are only lethal to Superman, as they drain him of his strength.
Nothing can harm Superman except perhaps Kryptonite. Everything else can kill Batman. Supes scores!
SCORE: BATMAN – 2
SUPERMAN – 3
ROUND UP: “Up, up, and away” are Batman’s hopes of winning this match. The debate over who would win in a fair fight – Batman or Superman – is perhaps one of the most controversial cases. Ultimately, if you pit the two in a ring Superman would beat Batman hands down, unless Batman had some Kryptonite in his utility belt. But that wouldn’t be fair, now would it?
