ROUND 1: STORY SQUABBLE
GODZILLA: After the atom bombing of Hiroshima in Japan, the nuclear radiation gave rise to a rapidly spreading fear, a fear that would grow by the spawning of a new breed of mutated dinosaur. Godzilla was born and he (or she?) wreaks havoc on Tokyo.
KING KONG: When a film crew travels to Skull Island to make a motion picture, they find a giant-sized gorilla named Kong. They capture him and bring him back to America where he escapes, dominating the streets of New York and the heart of Ann Darrow.

King Kong incorporates just the right amount of action and romance. Kong wins Round 1!
SCORE: GODZILLA – 0
KING KONG – 1

ROUND 2: AGE OLD ARGUMENT
GODZILLA: First released in 1954 under the Japanese title ” Gojira”, Godzilla celebrated his 50th anniversary in 2004. To date, he’s starred in dozens of movies. That’s quite impressive for a lizard.
KING KONG: On the other hand, King Kong was released in 1933, making Kong 72 years old, or 21 years older than Godzilla and counting! The original film has been made and remade many times.

Kong teaches Godzilla how to respect his elders! The gorilla grabs another point.
SCORE: GODZILLA – 0
KING KONG – 2

ROUND 3: POWER PUNCH
GODZILLA: Immensely powerful and hundreds of feet taller than King Kong, Godzilla makes destruction seem effortless. Not only does he have great strength, but also he can swim underwater and has radioactive breath!
KING KONG: Towering at 50 feet tall, this is one primate you don’t want to play with. Kong is undeniably strong, but his bark simply isn’t as big as his bite. Sure, he can ward off a T-Rex, but his soft spot for blonde actresses is his Achilles’ heel.

Godzilla could step on Kong, breathe fire on him, or eat him. Either way, Kong is dead meat.
SCORE: GODZILLA – 1
KING KONG – 2

ROUND 4: TOWER OF TERROR
GODZILLA: Ordinary military ammo couldn’t harm Godzilla. It took an oxygen destroyer to liquefy the lizard in Tokyo Bay in the 1954 movie, but even that wasn’t enough to kill him. This monster later returned in many sequels.
KING KONG: Meanwhile, King Kong is killed atop the Empire State Building with Ann Darrow clutched in his hand. It doesn’t take much to make the ape angry and with a few warplanes shooting at him, Kong slips and plummets to his death.

King Kong ought to stop monkeying around! Godzilla ties the match…
SCORE: GODZILLA – 2
KING KONG – 2

ROUND 5: MODERN MONSTERS
GODZILLA: In 1998, Hollywood released an updated version of Godzilla’s story, much to the dismay of fans. Despite the movie being titled GODZILLA, this dinosaur was very different from the original and rather than reigning over Tokyo, New York City took centre stage.
KING KONG: Peter “Lord of the Rings” Jackson is the director of the latest remake of KING KONG, which swung into theatres last month. Amazing action, combined with the most real-life looking Kong makes this movie one to watch!

Kong brings Godzilla closer to extinction!
SCORE: GODZILLA – 2
KING KONG – 3

ROUND UP: Godzilla’s fiery breath can’t save him now. They don’t call Kong the “King” for nothing. Both the overgrown gorilla and Godzilla are legendary movie monsters, but King Kong’s age and originality exceed the lizard by a long shot, which truly makes him the Eighth Wonder of the World!
