With filming having already begun on AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2, Columbia Pictures has released an official movie synopsis. Unsurprisingly, the synopsis is pretty vague, but it’s better than nothing!
It mentions that this is the first movie in the history of the franchise to be filmed entirely in the state of New York and stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Dane DeHaan and Shailene Woodley. Jamie Foxx and Paul Giamati are the two villains this time around and Sally Field reprises her role as Aunt May.
Then, it gets to the good part stating that “for Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), life is busy – between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can’t come quickly enough. Peter hasn’t forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen’s father to protect her by staying away – but that’s a promise he just can’t keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past”
Suspiciously, Paul Giamati and Shailene Woodley’s characters, Rhino and Mary-Jane Watson, respectively, as missing from the official synopsis. We wonder if this mean that they don’t have as huge a role in this movie as initially thought or if their roles are a secret that is meant to surprise us when we see the movie in theatres.
