10. BOLT
An innovative 3D look and fast-paced storyline made this Disney flick a leader in the animated pack. Plus, it gave us some fresh new characters to love. BOLT 2, anyone?
9. THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA: PRINCE CASPIAN
Darker, and more action-packed than its predecessor, this worthy retelling of C.S. Lewis’s classic story was a feast of visual effects. Long live Narnia!
8. KUNG FU PANDA
A welcomed bit of comic relief, Jack Black and company were pitch perfect as the voices of this entertaining cast of characters, and the CG artistry made for some truly awesome fight scenes.
7. TWILIGHT
In a year left suddenly without the familiar fantasy fare of HARRY POTTER, there was no better time for a best-selling book about vampires to make it into theatres. Perhaps this is another franchise that will get better with age?
6. INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL
Who could resist Harrison Ford taking up his old hat and whip for a brand new action-adventure? While it was far from perfect, there was no denying that Indy was missed.
5. HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 3: SENIOR YEAR
They sang, they danced, they conquered. HSM3 continued its funfest and swept us up with its wholesome enthusiasm. With bigger, brighter and better music and dance sequences, what’s not to cheer about?
4. QUANTUM OF SOLACE
Building on CASINO ROYALE’s rougher Bond, this sequel saw the full realization of 007 as a cold, efficient agent. Though lacking a bit of soul, SOLACE made up for it with intense action set at a heart-stopping pace.
3. IRON MAN
By far the most entertaining comic book adaptation in a long time, IRON MAN popped with its witty script and outstanding cast. For all its fun though, there’s no beating the well-rounded depth of our top two picks…
TIE!
WALL-E & THE DARK KNIGHT
One is a stunning visual tale of love, hope and the future, and the other is a brooding masterpiece of a dark hero and his even darker enemies. When such different movies can both be declared as brilliant, who wants to limit their list by labeling just one “the best”?
