How does your character progress in the second season? Sydney described Maddie as maturing significantly, facing more teenage issues such as romance, friendships, and the inevitable bumps in school life. She emphasized that Season 2 is a playground for more complex storylines and relationships, and she found the filming process incredibly rewarding as the ensemble grew deeper and more nuanced. Kiana added that Julia receives a bigger role in Season 2, with a stronger presence alongside Maddie. The two actors grew closer in real life, which sharpened their on screen camaraderie and amplified the humor. Sydney noted that Season 1 mainly introduced the concept, while Season 2 dives into more entertaining material anchored by Maddie and Julia’s ongoing friendship.
Did you guys ever get to improvise within your script? Kiana explained that the writers appreciate it when the actresses throw in their own lines, and the natural chemistry makes those moments land with extra punch.
What has been your favourite episode so far? Sydney admitted there are many strong contenders. Season 2, she explained, brought a sense of ease among the cast because everyone had grown more comfortable with one another, resulting in a freer, more spontaneous vibe, though she couldn’t pick a single favorite. Kiana agreed that Season 2 felt more crazed and entertaining, with more costume moments and physical comedy that she found especially enjoyable, making the later episodes stand out as her favorites.
Have there been any ridiculous moments on set? Sydney teased that a cake-to-the-face moment appears in Season 2 and described it as a standout memory from the shoot, a moment fans will likely remember for its playful chaos.
In what ways would you say you’re like Maddie? Sydney explained that Maddie mirrors her own life in many ways, a normal teenager thrust into a big opportunity. Both share the same kinds of pressures—drama with friends, navigating relationships, balancing school, and managing a lively family. She feels fortunate to have a show that resonates with her real experiences, which makes the role feel more natural and grounded.
If the show were to go into Season 3, what’s something you’d love to see your character do? Kiana observed that Season 2 already showed growth by introducing more adult-like situations and dating dynamics; for Season 3 she’s excited to watch Maddie or Julia face even more relatable life moments, including relationships or unexpected turns that push the characters forward in meaningful ways.
While you were on break in between seasons, did you find it hard to get back into filming? Sydney said the transition was surprisingly smooth, largely because the break was short. She returned after a quick school stint and summer break, and found it easy to rejoin the set. Kiana recalled waiting to hear about Season 2, using the downtime to audition for other projects and take acting classes, staying busy with preparation and anticipation for what might come next.
If you weren’t acting, what do you think you’d be doing? Sydney shared that she has no clear alternative path because acting has been a sustained focus since childhood, though she previously trained in dance and could easily have continued with that discipline. Kiana said she would likely be involved with activities around kids, given her love for their energy and the joy she finds in spending time with younger relatives and siblings.
Are there any other projects you’re working on apart from the show? Sydney mentioned that she isn’t tied to other projects at the moment and is concentrating on school while staying open to auditions. Kiana indicated that she isn’t pursuing many auditions right now either, instead focusing on continued acting training and plans to study acting in university, hoping more opportunities will come as she progresses academically and professionally.
