In San Diego, a 2013 class from Tech High International turned a bold idea into a vivid music video experience. More than 100 students drew roughly 3,000 pictures for a clip titled Bubbles in Space. The project was brought to life by a team that included director and producer Josh Hassin, art director Jeremy Farson, editor Franck Deron, and photographers known as the Joelsons.
The students received art supplies and a version of the music video to use as frame references. They were encouraged to infuse their own style and personal touches into every drawing. The final video stands out for its unique, picturesque blend of youth creativity and professional filmmaking. Those curious can view the video and see the colorful results and energy firsthand.
Hassin and Farson described the effort behind the project, noting that printing and scanning the thousands of drawings was the most demanding part of the process. Despite the heavy workload, the finished video attracted online buzz, signaling the impact of student-led art projects within today’s media landscape. A behind-the-scenes look is available as well, offering a window into how the artwork, direction, and editing came together to tell the story on screen.
