Kelli Berglund stars as Bree on LAB RATS, which airs on Disney XD. With the show in its second season, she shares details about how her career began and the superpower she would want. Read on to hear her answers.

How did you become interested in acting?

Berglund discovered acting when she was about nine years old. A lifelong dancer, she found acting to be a natural extension of her creative world. While performing in a school production that included several dance routines, a talent agent happened to be in the audience and approached Berglund’s mother with a proposal to connect with an agency. What started as a casual hobby soon led to auditions—first dance auditions, then commercials, and eventually television and movie opportunities. With each passing year, the commitment grew, and Berglund fell more in love with the craft.

Is dancing something that you still get to do?

Yes. Berglund has been a dancer for thirteen years and continues to pursue classes on weekends or after work. She values keeping dance in her life even amid a busy acting schedule. It remains a major passion, and she often fantasizes about bringing dance into a future role, perhaps in a film like STEP UP, which would feel like a dream realized.

Do you think that dance has helped you with acting in any way?

Absolutely. Dance training sharpened memory and focus through years of choreography, and that same discipline translates to memorizing lines and blocking on set. The habit of learning sequences helps her stay sharp and adaptable whenever a scene requires precise timing.

Do you share any similarities with your character?

There are clear parallels. Bree is outgoing, eager to make friends, and kind to everyone. Berglund sees herself as someone who wants to fit in and face insecurities, much like Bree does when starting at a new school. The actress recalls her own experiences as the new kid and the moments of self-doubt she confronted, which helps her connect with Bree on a deeper level.

Is there a particular episode of season two that was your favorite to film?

The upcoming hour-long special stands out as a highlight. It includes exciting new mission suits and features a memorable fight scene that showcases Bree’s toughness. The storyline introduces fresh characters and new settings, making the filming process especially enjoyable. Berglund can’t wait for fans to see the episode and share in Bree’s growth.

Do you get to do your own stunts on LAB RATS?

Most of the stunts are Berglund’s work, with a stunt professional stepping in for a few risky moments. There is a scene involving a fall down the school stairs where a stunt double is used for safety. In the majority of fight scenes, she performs her own stunts, which adds a sense of authenticity and energy to Bree’s action sequences.

How does it feel being the only girl on set?

The cast feels like family, with strong chemistry that makes the studio feel welcoming. Berglund describes the team as supportive and inclusive, which reinforces a positive, familial vibe on set, especially for the lone girl in the group.

Of all the Lab Rats, whose powers would you want to have?

Choosing a favorite power is tough, but Berglund would opt for super speed. The ability to move in an instant would be incredibly practical for her busy mornings, a time when she laughs that she already spends hours getting ready. The speed power would save precious time and streamline daily routines.

Thanks, Kelli!
