The Muppets are heading back to the big screen!
THE MUPPETS…AGAIN! is the follow up to 2011’s THE MUPPETS, which brought Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy and the others back into the limelight. Entertainment Weekly got to speak with Kermit the Frog, where he let out some details about the movie.
According to Kermit, “The idea of this film is that our gang is on this global tour, and we’re selling out these grand theatres all over Europe, but we sort of get into a little bit of trouble when we run across my doppelganger. He’s the world’s number one criminal, Constantine, and he happens to look an awful lot like me.” Kermit also joked saying that he will not be playing Constantine. Constantine is out to steal an enormous diamond.
Human co-stars for this film include Ricky Gervais (as Constantine’s sidekick), Tina Fey (as a Russian prison guard named Nadya) and Ty Burrell (as an Interpol agent). James Bobin will be returning as the director and also co-wrote the script with Nicholas Stoller.
Director James said that he’s “always loved those classic jewel-heist capers from the ‘60s and ‘70s, so I was very keen to do a movie that had elements of that [genre] featuring the Muppets and comedy and songs.”
The movie is currently shooting in London, where THE MUPPET SHOW was filmed in the past and is due in theatres on March 21, 2014.
