SAVING MR. BANKS is an upcoming movie about the tumultuous relationship between Walt Disney and MARY POPPINS writer, P. L. Travers during the production of the beloved film.
Now, the first official still from the movie has been revealed showing Tom Hanks and Emma Thompson as Disney and Travers! In the still, Disney is showing an unimpressed Travers around Disneyland and waving at an unseen fan.
While Disney’s 1964 musical, MARY POPPINS, is a beloved classic and timeless hit, it took a ton of work and a lot of fighting between Travers and Disney to bring the movie to light. In the end, Travers wasn’t totally satisfied with the film, citing reasons like the movie’s Mary Poppins was far too nice.
SAVING MR. BANKS is due out this holiday season, but keep checking back for more updates! In the meantime, check out the movie’s trailer below!
