GHOSTBUSTERS 3 has been on the table since 1996 and it’s only now starting to come close to becoming a reality!
Dan Aykroyd, the star of the original movies, revealed that the third movie may actually be more like a reboot of the franchise similar to J. J. Abrams’ reboot of STAR TREK. Aykroyd explained, “And I can say that it will be focused on the new generation.”
The film will likely consist of a cast of young actors playing modern day Ghostbusters with Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson’s characters passing their torches on to the next generation.
Much to everyone’s dismay, Bill Muray won’t be returning for GHOSTBUSTERS 3 for unknown reasons, as confirmed by Aykroyd. “My preference would be to have him involved but at this point he doesn’t seem to be coming and we have to move on,” Aykroyd explained. “It’s time to make the third one.”
Who would you love to see cast in the reboot of the GHOSTBUSTERS franchise?
