The Academy Award nominations have been announced, and it looks like HUGO has come out on top with the most nominations for this year. It’s in the running for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Music – Original Score, and 8 other categories.
Other names up for Best Picture include THE HELP, WAR HORSE, THE ARTIST, THE TREE OF LIFE, and MONEYBALL, among others. But the best list is the best animated feature, which has A CAT IN PARIS, KUNG FU PANDA 2, PUSS IN BOOTS, RANGO, and CHICO & RITA nominated.
THE HELP also took it in other categories, with Viola Davis nominated as Best Actress and Berenice Bejo and Octavia Spencer up for Best Supporting Actress. HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS: PART 2 didn’t get left out, as it snagged a nomination for Visual Effects, Makeup and Art Direction.
But, we’re really excited about the category Best Original Song, which only has two noms: “Man or Muppet” from THE MUPPETS, music by FLIGHT OF THE CONCHORDS’ Bret McKenzie, or “Real in Rio” from the movie RIO. Both so fantastic, and yet, neither films were in any other category.
Who will win? The award ceremony will be going down on Feb. 26th at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood.
