iChat With iCarly’s Miranda Cosgrove
With roles on the small and big screens under her belt, Miranda Cosgrove takes the Internet spotlight in iCarly, where she plays a young teen who starts her own web show. Here, she chats with us about iCarly, Drake and Josh and more!
You played Summer, the band’s manager, in THE SCHOOL OF ROCK. What was it like working with Jack Black?
It was a lot of fun. He’s like the funniest guy you’ll ever meet. And he’s exactly like what you’d expect him to be.
Tell us about getting the role of Megan Parker on DRAKE & JOSH!
When I was 8, I tried out for DRAKE & JOSH. And it was the first thing I had ever tried out for that I was like, ‘Oh, I really want this”, because I knew Drake and Josh from THE AMANDA SHOW, which is like one of my favourite shows…. And that’s just kind of how it all started.
Do you keep in touch with the cast of DRAKE & JOSH?
Yeah! I was so upset when we finished DRAKE & JOSH because I’m really good friends with all of them…. Actually, Josh is going to direct an episode [of iCarly] so that’ll be cool.
What’s your favourite segment from Carly’s web show?
We did this thing called “Messing With Lewbert.” We play pranks on this bellboy that like works downstairs. It’s a lot of fun.
Do you guys ever prank each other off the set?
Yeah. Jerry [Trainor, who plays Carly’s brother] is the biggest prankster…. Even though he’s the oldest, he’s actually the craziest.
What are some of your favourite websites?
I go to Meebo.com sometimes. And then I actually go on Nick.com and I play the games on there sometimes.
You also sing the theme song for iCarly. Is becoming a singer something you’re thinking of pursuing?
Yeah, I’d love to do that. It was my first time going into a studio and really singing a song and I just had a really great time. It was a lot more fun than I thought it was going to be.
