It’s the world premiere of the first EVER Disney XD Canadian original movie! Premiering Sunday, October 27 at 8pm ET, BUNKS is an action-packed zombie thriller and comedy starring Aidan Shipley and Dylan Schmid as two brothers, Dane and Dylan. The mischievous siblings are shipped off by their parents to what they think is a military-style boot camp – until the two sneak into Camp Bushwack, a pleasant island retreat, as camp counsellors! Thrilled with their luck, the brothers take charge of a group of 11-year-old boys and do their best to keep up the disguise through a series of outdoor adventures, canoeing, and even a competitive round of dodgeball.

The trouble begins when the pair discovers a book of scary stories in an old abandoned cabin deep in the woods. After telling a few over a campfire one evening, they slowly begin to realize that every story they tell becomes reality – in this case, a terrifying one of man-turned-zombie! A massive zombie outbreak begins and the brothers are forced to become real leaders as they desperately try to make things right again in Camp Bushwack and save their campers.

The movie is also set to air in the US, which is big news for Disney XD. Atticus Mitchell (who plays Wookie, one of the other camp counsellors) and Aidan Shipley are excited about where the movie is going; they’re both hoping it eventually turns into a TV series.

We had a chance to catch up with Mitchell and Shipley on their newest venture and ask them a few questions. Being young actors themselves, they had some advice for those trying to get into it at an early age: “Don’t look at it as a business; I tend to look at it more as an activity – it’s my favourite thing to do [but it] also happens to pay my bills and keep me afloat. As soon as you take the business aspect out of it, it really helps – when you go into auditions, you’re much more relaxed,” says Mitchell.

Shipley weighed in on the audition process, cautioning that “rejection is something you have to get used to very quickly. If you don’t have a thick skin, it’s going to be really hard. You’ve got to be able to go into an audition and then immediately forget about it as soon as you leave.” The two’s down-to-earth, realistic way of thinking is completely refreshing, and has so far done wonders for their career: Mitchell has been a serious actor since 2009 with several credits behind him, and Shipley is currently in his fourth year of film school at Ryerson.

We can’t wait to see what’s next for these guys, but in the meantime don’t miss this awesome upcoming Disney XD original on October 27 at 8 p.m. ET! Check out the trailer below!
