Fans of Wingin’ It will be excited to hear that Wingin’ It: Season One is landing on DVD, with Season Three already in the works. The show centers on Porter, a teenage angel played by Demetrius Joyette, who earns his wings by helping quirky classmate Carl, portrayed by Dylan Everett, rise to the top of the school social scene. Alongside their brainy friend Jane, played by Brittany Adams, the trio dives into weekly adventures that are equal parts funny and otherworldly.
A magazine sat down with Dylan Everett, Demetrius Joyette, and Brittany Adams to discover what it’s like to work on the show.
Season three brings bigger confidence for Carl, according to Dylan Everett. Porter and Jane have become closer friends with him, tying the story threads together and making the situations feel less unusual and more routine for Mr. Montclair.
Brittany Adams notes that there’s more romance in the air for Jane this season. She’s always loved school, but this time her feminine side shows a little more as she starts thinking about boys as well.
Demetrius Joyette says Porter remains true to form, often tripping over his own magic. They’ve only read a couple of scripts so far, but it’s clear Porter notices the misfiring of his spells and works hard to fix what he’s broken.
On what they love about playing their characters: DJ loves Porter’s cool, laid-back vibe and how the angel travels with a sense of magic everywhere, free of the usual consequences. DE is drawn to the wild, unusual situations Porter brings into Carl’s world; he calls Carl a roll-with-the-punches kind of guy and says those moments become even more entertaining as Porter’s antics pay off. BA appreciates Jane’s high energy and her love for all things school; she’s the bubbly heart of every club she leads.
Their favorite moment in the season so far: DE says the moment Carl turns into a girl stands out. It involved shaving legs, learning to walk in heels, and a bunch of other silly challenges, but it was an unforgettable blast. BA recalls filming an episode where Jane gets pulled into a movie, turning them into astronauts on a green screen—laser guns and space costumes made it a memorable shoot. DJ describes a Halloween episode where the trio becomes superheroes; their recycled hero power to fight litter, using a garbage rocket and a school-wide cleanup, was a riot. Then there was the haunted gym set that felt perfectly eerie and fun.
Meeting Fefe Dobson was a highlight for DJ, who found her to be friendly and professional and a real talent to work with. DE echoes that sentiment, praising her hard work and professional presence, while BA says she’d listened to Fefe’s music in high school and enjoyed meeting her and seeing her kindness up close.
When asked who they’d cast for a guest spot, BA names Kristen Wiig as her current favorite comedy actress. DJ would love to see Drake appear, though he knows it’s unlikely. DE would choose Shia LaBeouf, a respected role model who first inspired him after watching Even Stevens, and he would treasure the chance to work with him in the future.
What they’d make a personal angel do? Jane would probably tackle all her homework first. Porter’s wishes would involve boosting popularity and improving his study help, while keeping his magic from backfiring the same way it does on screen. One actor even imagines wanting to become taller and stronger, plus maybe a little charisma, a few stylish clothes, and even a Ferrari for good measure.
When they’re not acting, each cast member shares a different slice of life. DemetriusJoyette enjoys video games, staying active with soccer and hockey, and just the usual teenage hangouts. Brittany Adams is balancing university life with a love of reading, dancing, gym time, singing, and sunny days with friends. Demetrius Joyette is into basketball and paintball, plus the joys of a regular kid’s downtime with PlayStation, shopping, and other everyday activities.
With thanks to Dylan Everett, Brittany Adams, and Demetrius Joyette, Wingin’ It’s Season One remains a fan favorite on DVD, and fans can still try to win a copy through ongoing promotions.
