So many names have been mentioned in connection with the new STAR WARS movie under Disney that we’ve stopped paying attention. But now, J. J. Abrams is pretty much confirmed and fans are unsure how to feel about the choice.
Abrams is best known as the creator of LOST and ALIAS as well as the man responsible for the extremely successful reboot of the STAR TREK franchise. A lot of people think that someone who is already wrapped up in the STAR TREK universe won’t be able to do the STAR WARS universe justice.
Most people, though, think that if anyone can make a movie that will appeal to the original fans as well as a newer generation, it’s Abrams. He has been a life time fan of STAR WARS and even admitted, “As a kid, STAR WARS was much more my thing than STAR TREK was.”
The new movie will be called STAR WARS: EPISODE VII and Abrams will join celebrated screenwriter, Michael Arndt who wrote TOY STORY 3.
