Foxx has been approached to play a variation of the Daddy Warbucks character in the upcoming remake of the beloved hit musical, ANNIE. The Daddy Warbucks character will be altered a bit starting with a name change to Benjamin Stacks.
This remake is Jay-Z’s brainchild, who decided to take on the project after cover a variation of “Hard Knock Life.” The movie is set to be co-produced by Will Smith and will star Quvenzhane Wallis as everyone’s favourite orphan. Jay-Z, who scored the soundtrack to Baz Luhrmann’s highly anticipated THE GREAT GATSBY will also be producing the soundtrack to ANNIE.
The film was written by British actress, Emma Thompson (NANNY MCPHEE) and will be directed by Will Gluck (EASY A). It is set to begin production later this year and hopes to see a 2014 release.
