Anything FAMILY GUY creator Seth MacFarlane touches turns to a hit cartoon. The famous Griffin Family has taken TV town by storm, not to mention his cult-beloved sister shows AMERICAN DAD and CLEVELAND SHOW. But, will it work with THE FLINTSTONES?
MacFarlane says it won’t be exactly like the classic modern stone-age family, rather it’ll focus more on the Flintstone-Rubble neighbor relationship with a 2011 twist. “What’s the animal version of the iPod? That’s the kind of thing we have to think about,” Macfarlane commented (we say the Philippine Tarsier).
But the big debate now is whether or not we should be touching the classics. Do we want another “The People vs. George Lucas” situation where nothing is sacred? Especially considering the 1994 film with John Goodman as Fred received such poor reviews. Production on the show is said to begin immediately, with its debut set sometime in 2013. So like it or not, it’s happening.
But there are worse things that could happen… they could be doing an animated version of LEAVE IT TO BEAVER. That would be much worse. Considering Macfarlane is behind it, it’s in good hands. Now the real question is: what will they do with the theme song? Will IT be the same? Will Ke$ha be speak-singing it? All we can do is patiently wait…
