MONSTERS, INC. first hit theatres in 2001 and quickly became one of the most beloved animated comedies. Along with doing well at the box office, it was one of the first animated films to be nominated for an Academy Award. With the prequel, MONSTERS UNIVERSITY, hitting theatres next June, now is the perfect time to revisit the original movie in theatres.
The story follows two monsters, James P. Sullivan (John Goodman) and Mike Wazowski (Billy Crystal), who work for a company called Monsters, Inc. By scaring children and capturing their screams, the monsters help the city generate power. Everything is going well for the top scarer team, until a child accidentally finds its way into Monstropolis. With the wide belief that children are contaminated, Sulley and Mike must keep the child a secret until she can be safely returned. In the process, Sulley becomes attached to the little girl and does everything he can to protect her from evil monster Randall Boggs (Steve Buscemi).
Though it has been more than a decade since the movie first hit theatres, MONSTER, INC. 3D is still jam-packed with laughs and feel good moments. Whether you’re seeing the film for the first time or re-watching it, you’ll likely leave the theatres with a warm and fuzzy feeling.
