THE HUNGER GAMES series has seen extraordinary success in both book and movie form. Everyone loved the first movie and was fairly pleased with the casting choices. Now that it’s time to film the sequel, speculations about new characters have been flowing thick and fast.
The character that most people have been talking about is Finnick, a previous winner of the Hunger Games who comes back to compete with the other all-stars. A name in the rumor mill right now is– wait for it–Robert Pattinson! All the Twi-hards out there may be pleased, but fans of THE HUNGER GAMES are just short of furious, saying that RPatz doesn’t fit the part at all. According to their tweets, he doesn’t look the way Finnick is described in the book and his acting chops are apparently not up to it.
What does Robert have to say on the subject? Nothing as of yet, but seeing as he has been trying to break away from the teen fantasy fiction genre with his past couple of films (WATER FOR ELEPHANTS and REMEMBER ME to name a few), doing CATCHING FIRE would sort of be like taking a side-step to his “growing up.”
We’d sort of like to see a new actor get his big break playing Finnick, but sadly it’s the choice of the new director, Francis Lawrence (no relation to Jennifer Lawrence who plays Katniss Everdeen.) If you were the movie’s director, who would you cast as Finnick?
