Calling all fans of VICTORIOUS and iCARLY! The long-awaited crossover spinoffSAM & CAT premiered on YTV earlier this week and we’re already obsessed! Jennette McCurdy returns to her role as Sam Puckett from iCARLY and Ariana Grande is back as the bubbly Cat Valentine from VICTORIOUS. The two meet unusually and team up to be roommates. Of course, no Nickelodeon duo would be complete without a bunch of crazy antics!
In the series’ pilot episode, Sam takes a break from her motorcycle road trip in Los Angeles, stopping to eat at a food truck (VICTORIOUS fans will recognize the food truck as the same one Tori Vega and Beck Oliver ate at in one episode). Meanwhile down the street, Cat rides her bike until she sees two boys looking for their kitten. She finds the cat in a garbage bin, but ends up falling in the bin while saving the cat! A garbage truck accidentally snatches up the bin with Cat inside. Sam saw the whole thing happen and rushes to save Cat.
In exchange for saving her life, Cat invites Sam to stay at her apartment with her and her grandmother while she’s in the city. While leaving the apartment the next day, they run into three kids who Cat’s grandmother was supposed to babysit. Because Cat and Sam were on their way to find Cat’s grandmother, they bring the three kids with them. At the end of the episode, Cat agrees to let her grandmother stay at the retirement home and Sam agrees be Cat’s roommate so she won’t be alone.
The show promises many laughs as Sam and Cat continue to babysit together. YouTube sensations Sophia Grace & Rosie guest star in one episode as Ruby and Gwen, who turn out to be con artists! Sam also babysits a pygmy goat and gets into a texting competition with Butler, one boy they babysit who turns out to be a texting champion.
SAM & CAT was created by Dan Schneider, who also brought iCARLY and VICTORIOUS to life. So far, audiences have loved SAM & CAT so much that Nickelodeon announced the show’s first season would be getting 40 episodes instead of 20!
