Last night the MuchMusic Video Awards lit up the streets of Toronto, delivering a high-energy celebration of the year’s best music videos.
Red carpet moments kicked off with Carly Rae Jepsen, Selena Gomez, Cody Simpson and Far East Movement strolling the 6,460-foot carpet along John Street, setting a festive tone for the night.
Katy Perry arrived with an entourage that included mini versions of herself, while Justin Bieber brought his younger brother Jaxon for the spectacle.
Marianas Trench rolled onto the carpet on inflatable horses, continuing a playful MMVAs tradition after past entrances in a hot tub in 2010 and a giant hamster ball the year before.
Co-hosts LMFAO opened the broadcast with a rousing performance and kept the energy high throughout the show.
On stage, Nelly Furtado, Kelly Clarkson, Katy Perry and Carly Rae Jepsen performed solo and in a collaboration with Flo Rida. Marianas Trench and Hedley delivered standout sets on the John Street Stage, while Ed Sheeran offered a performance in the Much Studio.
Justin Bieber closed the night with a crowd-pleasing medley featuring All Around the World and Boyfriend, bringing the audience to its feet.
With the awards announced, Carly Rae Jepsen led the night as the top winner, taking home Video of the Year, MuchMusic’s Most Watched Video and the UR Fave Video of the Year for Call Me Maybe. The full list of winners follows.
